HSBC Bank Statement to Excel & CSV Converter

HSBC doesn't give most personal account holders a way to export a full statement straight to CSV or Excel — you only get the PDF, or a stripped-down transactions list that's missing your balances. This converts the actual statement PDF into a clean spreadsheet, in seconds, with nothing lost.

Excel, CSV & Tally XML

Built for UK bookkeepers and accountants who need output that imports cleanly, first time.

Why HSBC customers need a converter in the first place

HSBC UK issues digital statements as PDF files through Online Banking and the Mobile Banking app — that part is fine. The problem shows up when you need the data somewhere else. HSBC's separate transactions-list export can be pulled as CSV or Excel, but it's a different data source to the statement itself: it leaves out the statement period, the opening and closing balance, and the running balance your accountant or lender actually needs.

Some HSBC statement layouts also print transaction dates without a year, relying on the statement period printed at the top of the page. Copy that column into Excel by hand and every date is wrong. This converter reads the statement period first and applies the correct year to every row automatically.

If you just need last month's transactions, HSBC's own export is faster. If you need a real statement — for a mortgage application, a reconciliation, or historical bookkeeping — convert the PDF instead.

How to download your HSBC statement

  1. Log in to HSBC Online Banking or the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
  2. Open the account you need a statement for.
  3. Go to Statements & Documents (web) or Statements (app).
  4. Choose the statement period and download it as a PDF.
  5. Upload it above and choose Excel, CSV, or Tally XML as your output.

HSBC UK keeps up to six years of statements available online, so historical statements convert just as well as your most recent one.

What people use their converted HSBC statement for

  • Mortgage applications — lenders ask for 3–6 months of statements; Excel is far easier for them to review than a stack of PDFs.
  • Self-assessment & tax prep — filter business expenses by category before filing.
  • Xero / QuickBooks / Sage import — clean CSV that imports without a manual mapping step.
  • Tally for Indian clients — accountants managing HSBC accounts for NRI or expat clients get a direct Tally XML import.
  • Reconciliation — match HSBC transactions against your books in minutes instead of hours.
  • Spending analysis — pivot tables to see where money actually goes, month to month.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download my HSBC statement directly as a CSV or Excel file?

Not for most HSBC UK personal accounts. HSBC issues statements as PDF files through online banking and the mobile app. You can export a transactions list separately as CSV or Excel, but that export excludes the statement period, opening and closing balance, and running balance that the PDF contains. To get the full statement in spreadsheet form, you need to convert the PDF.

Does this work with HSBC Business and HSBC Premier accounts?

Yes. Personal, Premier, Advance and HSBC Business Current Account statements all use a compatible layout and convert without any manual setup.

Why do some HSBC statements not show the year in the date column?

Some HSBC statement layouts only print the day and month against each transaction, relying on the statement period at the top of the page for the year. Our converter reads the statement period and applies the correct year to every transaction automatically, so you don't end up with dates that break when imported into accounting software.

What file formats can I export to?

Excel (.xlsx), CSV, and Tally XML. The Tally XML export is built for accountants and bookkeepers working with Indian clients who hold HSBC accounts and need direct import into Tally, rather than a manual CSV mapping step.

Is it safe to upload my HSBC bank statement?

Yes. Your file is processed over an encrypted connection and permanently deleted after your download completes, under our Zero-Retention Protocol. We never store, share, or use your statement data for any other purpose.

How far back can I convert HSBC statements?

HSBC UK keeps up to six years of statements available in online and mobile banking. You can download any of those as a PDF and convert them here — there is no limit on how old the statement is, only on how far back HSBC itself retains them.
